Old Coastguard Station
The Dock

The Old Coastguard Station is a visitor and education centre owned by the National Trust and run in partnership with the North York Moors National Park. It’s exhibition room helps visitors discover how the natural landscape at Robin Hood’s Bay was formed, through the use of interactive models and nature itself. The exhibition room contains a small retail area where visitors may purchase a reminder of their visit or join the National Trust and help us to take care of the local coastline.
The education room upstairs is used by pre-booked school parties for organised activities in line with national curriculum requirements. When not in use by school groups the education room holds exhibitions of work from local artists and is also a base for summer activities by local groups including the Dinosaur Coast team.
The centre is open daily except Mondays from June to the end of September then school holidays and weekends only throughout winter. Family events and activities take place during school holidays. Entry to the exhibition room is free.
