Richard Nesling

I started collecting jet from Robin Hood’s Bay beach in 2001. For the first couple of years I just used to sell the raw material to the Whitby craftsmen. Eventually I started to polish pieces and carve crude crosses using very basic tools. As my interest and experience grew, so too did my collection of tools and network of friends in the trade. I moved to Bay in 2003 and in 2004, with the financial help and training of the Prince’s Trust, I was able to turn what was then a hobby into my own small business which has steadily grown.
