Bill Wedgwood
I was born seventy one years ago in the old part of Robin Hood's Bay about a hundred yards from the sea. All my life I have been connected with the sea, working in the shipyard, serving in the merchant navy, the Auxiliary Coastguard and the lobster, salmon and cod fisheries.
I am able to draw on my experiences of the sea for my paintings which are mainly of ships, fishing boats and the sea in it's many moods. In all my paintings I try to ensure all the rigging and colour details are correct for the period as I find this matters a great deal to the buyers who are usually ex-mariners and very discerning.
I work in water colours, acrylics, oils and pastel and will undertake any commissions for marine subjects.
