Robin Hood’s Bay

Courtesy in the community

  • Organise your pupils into small groups, each supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
  • Keep groups together and give way to members of the public.
  • Explain to pupils that buildings along the narrow winding streets are people’s homes. Respect the residents’ privacy and the quiet, peaceful atmosphere.
  • There is a picnic area suitable for group lunches if the tide is in but whichever spot you choose please ensure that ALL litter and uneaten food is carefully packed away and removed from the site. It is worth mentioning that both the fish and chip shop (01947 880426) and the ice-cream van on the beach (07792 613283) both cater and offer discounts to school parties and other large groups.
  • Litter not only looks awful, but it is also a danger to wildlife. Please explain this to your pupils and ask them to take their litter home with them.
  • School parties are welcome in local shops but please organise your pupils into small groups, each supervised by an adult.
  • Plan for bad weather and have alternative arrangements up your sleeve.
