This spacious bungalow built in 1948 is situated in 83 acres of private land, including ancient woodland, a stream, and wild moorland. It is in the North Yorkshire Moors National park and situated off the A171 Scarborough to Whitby road. It is 3 miles from the picturesque village of Robin’s Hood Bay, and 7 miles from Whitby. There is a nice walk through the fields to Boggle Hole beach about 2 miles away.Kirkmoor sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms (two doubles and two twins). There is a dining room and a large lounge both with open log fires.
The dining room is home to the nature book where guests can record any interesting wildlife spots. This is a Kirkmoor tradition going back to our first guests in the 1960s! The lounge has books and puzzles for the evenings. The kitchen has recently been modernised and has a microwave, a fan oven and a large fridge-freezer. The garden has large lawn with a sandpit for children, and lots of gardening for more enthusiastic guests. There are 83 acres of land to explore, and at Kirkmoor you can truly get away from it all.
We provide pillows and duvets for all beds but guests are recommended to bring their own bed linen, towels and tea towels (bed linen available on request)
The house has its own private spring for water and water is automatically pumped up to the house. It is filtered and safe for drinking. Flow of water can vary through the year so it is important not to waste water.
The house is heated using three night storage heaters and two open fires. For guests who want open fires there is plenty of fallen wood on the land to collect.
The house is usually booked by the week from Saturday – Saturday, and guests are asked to leave by noon, and not arrive until 2pm. We are not able to provide cleaning every week, so we ask that guests leave it clean for the next people.
