Coastal Wildlife of the North York Moors

The “Coastal Wildlife of the North York Moors” is a laminated, 8-panel fold-out guide produced by Whitby Naturalists Club in partnership with the Field Studies Council (FSC).

It is designed to appeal to anyone interested in learning more about the wildlife found on the North York Moors Coastline, it covers a section of coast between Staithes and Cloughton Wyke, extending from the Cleveland Way path to around 3 miles out to sea.

It contains over 70 examples of marine mammals, birds, shore-life/seaweed, plants and invertebrates (including butterflies & moths). It also provides a brief description of typical coastal habitats and an introduction to features of this section of coastline, a map, and tips for looking after the coastline.

Copies can be purchased in several shops in Robin Hood's Bay or online directly from the Field Studies Council - see the weblink below.  It is also available at the North York Moors centres at Danby and Sutton Bank, and Whitby Museum.
